Nokia is developing new sensors based on graphene layers.
Registered the patent by Nokia in February 11, 2011. Which describes a method of using a multi-graphene and color filter sensors. This sensor has three RGB light-sensitive layer, can capture the standard full-color pixel, its mechanism may be somewhat similar to Sigma’s Foveon sensor.
Compared with conventional CCD or CMOS sensor, graphene sensor is also easier to manufacture, smaller, and thinner.
But Nokia did not disclose the progress of this technology, and does not know how long it takes to get practical.
