Google continues to dominate and hold a death-grip on search market share in all over the U.S., but according to Experian Hitwise who says that Bing has taken five percent of Google’s search market share in the last 12 months or so.
Hitwise’s market share stats for May 2012 makes clear that, Google accounted for 65 percent of all U.S. searches — down from 68 percent a year ago. Meanwhile, Bing-powered searches in May accounted for 28.1 percent, which is up from 26.8 percent last year at this time.
That’s a five percent year-over-year decline for Google, and a five percent gain for Bing-powered search share.
Hitwise credits Yahoo with two consecutive months of search gains. For the sake of comparison, comScore recently reported that Yahoo’s search share has dropped for nine consecutive months.
